Esteban Lazo Receives South African Delegation


Esteban Lazo Hernández, member of the Central Committee Politburo of the Communist Party of Cuba and Vice-Chairman of the Council of State met with the delegation of the African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa, led by companion Baleka Mbete, the ANC National Coordinator .


The delegation is visiting our country invited by the CPC Central Committee and has held meetings and exchanges with leaders of the Party, Government, National Assembly of Popular Power and the political and mass organizations.


During the fraternal meeting at the Central Committee, Baleka passed on the greetings of the President of the Republic and the ANC, Jacob Zuma, to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and Army General Raul Castro Ruz and reported amply on South Africa's preparations for the Centennial the constitution of the ANC to be held in January 2012.

Issues of interest to both parties were discussed, and the importance of the 17th World Festival of Youth and Students to be held shortly in South Africa, dedicated to Nelson Mandel and Fidel Castro.


The National Coordinator was accompanied by the Hon. Mr. Phatse Justice Pitso, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa. On the Cuban side Deputy Head of International Relations Department of the Central Committee, Oscar Martinez Cordoves, and other officials attended.
